Temperature Regulation
Have you noticed how babies often have cold hands or feet? Even when covered, even at home. And that sometimes they perspire when it's not even that hot? This is because babies are not capable of regulating their body temperature like adults.
Babies have a lot of difficulty regulating their base temperature, which is around 37°- 37.5°C. They are very sensitive to variations in temperature, whether cold or hot. In fact, it's only at around 18 months - 2 years that babies really learn how to regulate their temperature naturally.
UV Protection
In adults, sunburns are painful, and cause tissue damage that can lead to skin cancer. But in babies, sunburns can be a medical emergency, causing dehydration, high fever, blisters, infections, chills, and heatstroke, not to mention vastly increasing their lifetime skin cancer risk. In short, parents must do everything they can to keep babies safe from sunburn.
The Product ( Cucoon )
Cucoon is a unique product designed to provide both thermal regulation and UV protection for babies. The unique patent pending design encompasses a detachable hooded romper. The hood provides additional thermal regulation for the baby as most of the heat loss is released from the baby’s head due to its high skin surface area.
The hood also provides additional UV protection to the baby’s head and face which is susceptible to sun damage. Cucoon is made from bamboo fabric which is anti static and UV pro- tective as it cuts out 98% of harmful UV rays. Bamboo fabric has micro-gaps, which aid in ventilation, meaning they trap cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter to aid in regulating body temperature.
